Wed WIP..slow and steady

Image
Wednesday again? I have had an interesting week and sort of lost track of time. I tend to sew on something, cut out something, quilt something or just dream of doing something. Between all of that, I watch dvd's and tv series in one swoop and walk while listening to audio books. When one of those options is out of commission it seems everything is off. I am having a huge glitch with my tv and dvd player. Suddenly they won't work together so my little movie break has come to a halt. Today my cd player is giving me fits and it is the one in my sewing room so I am all discombobulated. ;) However, it has not stopped the progress I am making on some blocks I am doing for the Mod Olive QAL over at SewKindofWonderful. HERE Two more Skillbuilder blocks are ready to quilt QAYG style: The second block is not from the Skillbuilder persay. I used the pixel block style again but made this much smaller to sort of make a wonky type of log cabin block. I am substitu

WIP Wednesday - catching up slowly

Image
Today is WIP day with Lee over at Freshly Pieced . For the last few weeks I have not been participating because I have been losing and so falling behind on my WIP's. Okay enough whining! I am taking charge and working on getting caught up. Today I am working on my Skill Builder blocks from Alyssa over at Pileofabric . Finally all three of these are put in their boarders and ready to quilt. I also have the hexi block (below)done that needs to be quilted too. I am going to watch the FMQing tips and after lunch hit the machine. I want to get them done because tomorrow two more blocks will be up to make. Slow and steady wins the race??????? :)

WIP Wednesday ...so soon?

You know the old adage...the more you do the more there is to do? Well I have been getting lots done but the things I want to make and do keep growing. I guess that is a good thing. I sure would hate it if I ran out of UFO's and random piles of fabric. ha...as if! My WIP this week is for Le Challenge and this month the theme is "Wings". I have some new techniques I want to try out so I thought this month it might come together. ......I said "might"?? This is pretty crazy and wild fabric but I am hoping the trapunto I am going to try will calm it down. I think no matter what it is a good chance to try something new. You will have to wait and see how it goes. The deadline for the challenge is the 15th of the month. Why don't you go over and check out the blog and give it a try yourself. I did finish my Skill Builder BOM Block ...well one of them from last month. I still have to quilt but believe me that will be the easy part. Also finish

Make it and wear it - March

I was afraid I was not going to get something made to wear for myself yet th is month. I had a change of plans for the weekend because not only is it Easter but it is our 24th Wedding Anniversary!! woot woot! But this morning I woke up and started on my list of things to get done. Here is a very simple Butterick top pattern # 5493. I had this lovely silky charmeuse fabric that is all springy looking. Since I have not lost the weight I wanted, this is loose fitting and will work ..or I hope it will. :) Next I needed to get going on my Skill Builder BOM blocks. I think they turned out pretty great even though I had some troubles. Quilting I will get to in April And last but not least... Groceries bought and Peanut Butter Pie made. :) Happy Easter Everyone!!!

Sew Thinky Thursday

Today's question from Emily at Mommy's Nap Time What is your favorite Kona cotton or other fabric you run out of all the time? Lately it seems to be Kona Charcoal. I also like Kona But I love color so go figure?? I think it would be fun to make my own color palette to have all the time. I get scared when I think I want a whole bolt of something. ha WIP right now has some of my Kona Coal that I love. This is one of my blocks from the Skill builder BOM I have branched out and made a few other color quilts but I do love a bit of black in most things in and out of quilting. I think the grays and the blacks really show off your work. This is a journey and my color favs come and go but I think these three will stay with me for a while.

WIP days

Well I have been hit by a series of 'want' to do projects. I thought I was totally in control and going to finish up lots of projects this year before starting new ones but................? I can't help it I keep finding so many fun things to join in and do. First I have completed the sewing part of my first two blocks for the Skill Builder BOM fun over at www.pileofabrics.com I was so unsure of the fabric choices I made but seeing them all ready to quilt the last day or so...I now love them. I had a whole bunch of the background gray s o I figured I should use it. I have a large scale black and white print for the back since this is a QAYG quilt. Then I joined another group that is doing a Favorite Block Quilt a long. http://www.persimondreams.com/quilt-alongs/lapaceks-orchard/my-favorite-block-quilt-along My first two so far: Update: Birdbath Relay for Life Auction Quilt Still no progress except I have the backing sewn. I need to c

New Year Momentum Pa Rumpa Pum Pum!

I am so excited. Things seem to be moving right along. First my fabulous design board I made for in my sewing room has been a huge success. I finally put together all those diamond blocks from the Kaffe Fassett kit that I purchased back in June from Material girls quilt shop in Grand Island, Ne. It looks fabulous if I do say so myself. I put together 5 other prints of his for the back and I think it will be wonderful. IT is huge for a quilting project for me so that might have to wait a tiny bit. Still it is progress! Then I decided since I signed up for the Skill Builder BOM over at PileOFabrics.com that I better finish my Craftsy BOM. I had two left and they are the paper pieced blocks. I already had the copies to sew on so it was just a matter of doing them. Now the question is how to finish the blocks. I was thinking since I am behind on my charity quilts I might just take these blocks and split them into two crib or lap size
