Finish it up Friday! Black-eyed Susan

Image
A Friday Finish!! This is my little wall hanging made from the free pattern over at SewKindofWonderful HERE  using the Quick Curve Ruler. I wanted to make a scrappy (from my stash and scraps) wall-hanging using the ruler.  This was super fun AND......drum roll please! I tried two new techniques for me on this. First, because I spiral quilted it, it was pretty wavy. I was able to figure out how to block this since it was so small. super easy and now it is very flat even though in the photo it looks wavy on the bottom. That is because I launched it out in front of me in the snow..haha! Second, I tried the fake piping binding. Super easy!! This is scraps of AG Indian Summer fabric. It has such a soft hand. I love the fun way the pieces are just shades in this scrappy piece. I am calling this one : "Black-eyed Susan" 24" x 24" spiral quilting fake piped binding scraps/stash fabrics     Here you can see a bit better the binding. I

A Friday Finish = Friendship Star

So instead of getting some great pics of my finished Friendship Star quilt I went out to lunch and did some shopping with a friend. :) I am happy with the finish and I quilted it with wavy lines which is one of the programed stitches on my machine. I love how crinkly it turned out. You can see the crinkles a little better here. I am still not sure about using all that white on white fabric for this quilt but it looks so springy. Making a little dent! and Finish it up...

This is probably a bit unusual but my Friday Finish (now Saturday) is to finish up a post I was going to make back in November. (yep that far behind on some things) Today is the day!!! Linking up with Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday   I was really happy recently when one of my quilt guilds offered up a challenge to make an upcycled or recycled project. I didn't know what I was going to make so I dug around through my closets. That was a bit of downer! ha I have stuff and no place for it to go and I am saving things for who knows what purprose...but someday??? You know what I mean?  As soon as it is thrown away I will want it for something.  In my searching I found a box of flannel shirt squares I cut up several years ago. My husband was in a flannel shirt phase and then not. Lots of plaids and I figured why not make a big "Plus" quilt with them.  I love how this turned out. I didn't know that flannel could be so easy to sew but very heavy. I ended up no

Scrappy Happy Time - Finish

Thank you Maureen Cracknell for your QAYG Scrappy Herringbone quilt tute!!!  HERE . I saw it at the end of September when she posted it on her blog and I knew I had to give it a try. My scrap boxes were overflowing.  "Happy Scrappy Time" QAYG quilt 56 1/2" x 61 1/2" -miscellaneous scrap strings including scraps from cut off backings -various cotton batting leftovers that I cut down to approx 7 1/2" x 64" -several leftover pieces of binding scraps were sewn together to use up -many misc. odd colored bobbins were emptied while piecing the strings  -on each strip I did straight top-stitching, a feather stitch and a cross-hatch (Those turned out so great I wish I would have used several colors and done more of the decorative stitching.) Since it was bigger than I thought when done I used these two beloved green prints. They seemed to work well with all the scrap strings.  I used an orphan block I had hanging around in my
