ALYoF March ~ Something from nothing, a scrap quilt

Image
"Something from Nothing", a scrap quilt 51 x 52 1/2" Leader and ender method started early 2014 650 2 1/2 squares with bits and snips of binding ends   My goal was set HERE   I love all the bright snips of fabrics and I especially love that this was all throw away scraps. I should have made it bigger but with the mess of the stacks of 650 of these little blocks was enough AND this little guys is plenty heavy!! I spent all yesterday blocking it so it can hang on the wall. We will see if I get that done.   All stash scraps and scrappy stash backing too.  My stash is getting a work out this year and I am so happy!   My trouble on this one came with the straight line quilting. I knew I had to only quilt straight lines where the scrap corners were not. This is pretty bulky even though some of the seams are ironed open.   I started out with the idea of stitching down and then turning and stitching back up. I quickly saw that the top, no matter

March already? What to pick? what to pick? I do have hundreds of these wonky squares in my leader and ender box so maybe I should just finish it? They are spreading onto the floor and on a separate cutting mat.  I am not sure if I need more sewn or if this is enough to actually be something but once I post this I guess it will be decided!! :) Linking up with ALYoF with Fiber of all Sorts and Bittersweet Designs HERE

Section 3 of my DYO Sampler hosted by SewMamaSew  HERE  and Sarah from Sarah Quits blog. I can't believe I have made it this far. It is a huge jumble in itself with so many colors and scraps.   I was able to use up the hexi applique orphan block and the churn dash orphan along with some old half square triangle blocks. I know you can't quite see the pile of scraps next to this but it is there ...trust me!   Before I started this sampler quilt I was thinking of using up some of my little scraps from making binding. I have stacks of 2.5 " squares cut out of white and so I decided to use this as a leaders and enders quilt. In only a short while I have over 200 2.5" blocks sewn and pressed up for a scrap quilt. I am really surprised how fast you can use those little scraps. The problem is...I keep making more, especially with the above scrap quilt. :)     Next in my jumbled sewing and even more jumbley sewing room is my Super Nova Friendship Block S
