It's Friday! Lava Lamp Quilt

Image
So glad it is Friday and I have a finish this week!!          This was inspired by Jacquie Gering's version of a tumbler quilt pattern called "Lava Lamp Revisited" seen in the special issue of Modern Patchwork spring 2013.  This quilt is made from my stash. I actually won this fabric last year in a giveaway. (I already used it for a childs craft tote bag that I shared on here before). It is Michael Miller fabric designed by  Tamara Kate called "Flight Pattern".  Backing is a piece I also had in my stash from a line of Dear Stella. Worked perfect. just added some jumbo tumblers from a few pieces to compliment the front. Organic wavy line quilting to sort of go with the lava lamp vibe. Bound with scraps that fell off the sides and some leftover end pieces.  Finish size approx. 48" x 70". Flowers compliments of my husband for Valentine's day and they are still going strong! :) Linking up with Finish it up ...

Sort of Back!

Wow September already. I will tell you that August was sort of a blur. In a nutshell, I hurt my back early in the month and was not able to sew ...at all! No cutting out just dreaming of what I wanted to be doing and making.  Near the end of the month I was spurred out of my sewing hiatus to make a quick gift for my great niece on her 3rd Birthday. :) I was reading blogs and came across an idea someone made (sorry I didn't bookmark so not sure who this was) to make a little handled tote.  I modified the tote to my own crafty idea. I wanted it to be a travel tote for my great niece to carry her art (whatever that maybe) or books etc. She is blessed with many grandparents who love to have her visit and so I thought this would work great.    Front pocket and velcro closure to the bag keeps everything together.  Zipper pocket for markers (dry erase crayola makers inside)   Inside ruffle elastic straps to hold dry erase board or drawing pape...
