Project Quilting Season 12.1-I am rising...

"Like a phoenix" 30" x 32" Accuquilt die cut triangles Diamond straight line quilting My own design Project Quilting has started again. New year, new one week challenge. The first challenge is based off the Patone color(s) of the year Illuminating (yellow) and Ultimate Gray. Those colors felt sort of opposite to me for some reason. I felt the doom of the gray and the light of the yellow and the first thing I thought of was rising from the ashes ...like a phoenix.  Got out pater and pencils and decided equilateral triangles were the answer.  With my limitations physically I decided to use the Accuquilt machine to pump out some triangles. This then determined the size the finished quilt would be also.  Almost 500 triangles later I began. This was a confusing part as the triangles had to be going one way and one way only for the design. I used an old vinyl tablecloth back to stick the rows down to take to sewing machine and it worked great. Actually hard to get some of

Project Quilting 9.2 Triangulation or something close

After the post I wrote about "just doing" something I was motivated to participate in this weeks  Project Quilting 9.2 Challenge  at Persimon Dreams. It is nothing to write home to mother about but I want to use some things I have. I found a new package of the Tri-Recs rulers and grabbed a bunch of fabric and Ta-Da! The challenge was called Triangulation.  So Triangles I did!! This is approx 39" x 48" which is a great size for a local chapter of Quilts for Kids to accept. Two birds with one stone as they say.  Simple quilting lines with red violet thread and done. Machine binding went pretty quick.  I think I should have done more quilting but I washed it already and I like how soft it is. I am sure some little girl that is sick and spending time in a hospital will snuggle with it just fine.  I intended to get outside and take some kind of fun picture with this newly finished piece but alas.....I have some hot moist heat on my

Project Quilting #6 = Triangles

"Stardust"  19 1/4" x 32" Tablerunner Project Quilting Challenge entry #6 = Triangles   This week the challenge for Project Quilting #6 was Triangles. I wanted to give the flip and sew triangles that I learned in the Jacquie Gering class a couple weeks ago a try. This method made perfect use of the triangles as a focal point of this table runner. I called it Stardust because the shades of gray and taupe blend so well with the pop of the star blocks. I used some french themed fabric I had in my stash and added a few texture pieces and I think it will look great on any table.  I did match-stick quilting with 4 shades of taupe to gray to cement thread. They actually add to the Stardust effect.  For some reason the up close view with the finer lens made this look a little more blue gray and it is not. The match stick work looks good here though.    Plain piece of dot fabric on back and bound by machine but finished by hand. (at 10:52 a.m.
