Time for  Project Quilting 14.5  hosted by Kim over at Persimon Dreams. This weeks theme is Sew NOT a square.  In the spirit of me wanting to use my stash AND to make a crib size quilt each week I went with simple hexi design with some kid type bright fabrics I had.  The colors and prints were so fun but often times I end up leaning toward more girlish colors and so I am thinking I should dig up some other colors and make another one. We will see. I had a busy week this week. I gave a talk this last Tuesday at my lcg.  Yes I am a dork! I talk with my hands and just start talking. I can't seem to help it.  So after that busy night I ended up with a huge sinus headache the next day but that left me to think about what I could make quickly for P.Q. 14.5 My mom left me some plastic templates for making tumblers and hexi quilts from Nancy Zieman. They are just simple plastic but they have 4 sizes each and it is super easy to cut and sew.  42" x 48" I used a simple serpentine s

A Lovely Year of Finishes!!! yippee and WIP

Image
It is that time again.   A lovely year of Finishes   over at Fiber of all sorts and Bittersweet Designs. I seriously was not sure if I was going to get to my Finish Challenge for the month. I have been working on those half hexis for a while now and was not sure how I wanted to finish it, if I wanted to make it bigger or what I was doing ...period.  The end of the month was approaching and I was ticking off the list of things I wanted to do this month yet.  The list is long so I decided that it would be better to just DO IT and get it done and have a finish to show for it. I am so glad I did. Here is my green half hexi quilt: Ta Da! Next up is a paper piece project that I am hoping to make into a pillow.  I am not sure I know what I am doing because there are so many pieces but I am willing to give it a go.

WIP Wednesday -greens

Linking up with Lee over at  Freshly pieced  for WIP Wednesday.  My progress is slow but it is fun and it is green. Perfect for this time of year.  Last night I did a little more on my half-hexi quilt. I put the strips I had done together and then decided to add another two rows. I still think I need to go bigger but then it is only a matter of time and I will have to turn it because it will be wider than long. hmmmm? not sure what I should do on this. Turning out pretty cool though. :)

Sew Thinky Linky and Progress

Sew Thinky Thursday again! Emily has a new question. Don't forget to check out her blog  Mommy's Nap Time  to see her adventures at Quiltcon!!! Here's our question for this week: Tell us about your sewing friends. Have your fabric tastes changed by having friends who like to sew? Do you like the same things or are you completely opposite? I think my fabric taste changes just about every day. I have favorites and if I pile all my fabric in one place I would see that I have way more of some colors than another but I feel like a seed in a giant seed pod. I have been starting to stretch and grow in several directions. I have always liked crafty things and dabbling in this and that. I am sure you have heard the saying "jack of all trades but master of none" ...that is me.  I love being around all the new blogging friends since I started my blog. I feel everyday is a learning experience.  I see a quilt-a-long and I want to do that but before the minut
