UFO busting - Seeing Spots!

I am not even sure when this little quilt was started. I know I had access to an Accuquilt machine at a local sewday. I cut out the circles and fusible circles too. I got home and started using some fancy stitches on my sewing machine to go around the edges.  I also remember taking them to a sew day at our county fair to sew on while being in the Quilts for Kids booth. The year? I am not sure.  I am pretty sure this quilt did not want to be finished. I found the blocks when looking for materials to make masks out of.  I thought, I can sew this up quickly. I did, and then I pressed it and then had to sew the whole thing again because my antique iron melted the thread in about 75% of it. Yes melted. I could see the thread go from shiny to dull and then I rubbed it. The thread actually came up from one side like tiny beads on a strand. So very odd. I have used that thread since and the same iron and nothing?? My sewing room in disaster mode!!! ha An...

Moth (er) and the County fair is over

This is My Moth(er) 42 x 38 Tula Pink book Pattern -Ikat Moth freemotion quilted circles over moth and wavy lines over background By now if you follow me you know I am really an emotional quilter/crafter. I attach to certain things I choose and often it comes from a somewhere deep inside that usually circles back to my mom.  "You and I possess within ourselves - at every moment of our lives, under all circumstances, the power to transform the quality of our lives.  Knowing that is what the work is all about." - Werner Erhard I put that quote on the label of this quilt because this was a huge learning curve for me. I chose to use these vibrant colors inspired from the Madegascan Moon Moth. I think many moths are beautiful and live such short lives.  This quilt taught me lots of patience which is burned into a memory of my mother when she started getting sick.  1" strips sewn down to 1/2" makes for a very thick quilt. The skinny li...

WIP Wed - All Aboard!

First up today is a bit of work on my boat blocks. I decided to try to make up several quilts with my red, white and blue/aqua scraps. Here is the first one. I went with 6 1/2" blocks which is what I had a lot of. Win win! The boat doesn't really stand out too much but I think some little one will love it anyway.  Now to get it sandwiched and practice fmqing!! I was feeling so behind with the county fair here all last week.  I volunteered several times and tried to work on more charity quilts while there if I was not white gloving the quilts. Here is my little piece that I am proud to say earned a blue ribbon! Here is one of the kits I made up last week for Quilts for Kids (they had a booth at the fair that I worked at a bit during the fair).  This kit I decided to do myself because it had a block that needed piecing and I was trying to use up pieces for the back too.  Lots of stash fabric! It turned out kind of cute. :) Between shifts at the fai...
