PQ 12. 4 already = Animal Tales n Trails

Project Quilting 12.4 challenge this week is inspired by the Snail Trail block. You can find details about the challenge with Kim from  Persimon Dreams . I have to say I am not really a fan of that snail trail block.  It does change things when it is paired with other blocks or by the use of color.  I played around with drawing a few ideas. I just kept thinking of a vortex and I wanted to do that improvisationally.  Not really what I had in mind for this challenge.  I started to think what could I do with 2 colors and then instead how could I make it more colors that the traditional 2 or 4. I tried 8 and this is what I came up with.  I tried to simulate a few colors into how this would work. I think my finished result is not quite right. I think I ended up with a few triangles left over and maybe a wrong color here or there but still I like the result.  Just like in my last post, I am out trampling around in the snow and it is so pretty and calm out here.   Today I put the last couple borders on my experimental charm quilt design. Top is finished as planned!        I was hoarding the "Little Black Dress" charm packs for a while and wanted to experiment with my own design. Since this fabric is sort of "formal" to me I am stewing over how I want to quilt this. I think I want to practice some feathers and see if that will work for at least part of it. I am pretty critical of my FMQing work so this might not come to fruition any time soon. ;)    My photos are not all that great to show off the colors of this line of fabric but it is Yummy!  I just love it. I am so happy to have a top finished. I am going to work on some Christmas presents and practice some FMQing as soon as my machine gets back from service. Yes, finally the wrench/hammer icon came on...I don't have a choice I have to take it in. I am sad!  Guess it means to go put my design cap on and get creative. Linking up with Crazy Mom Qu

Wow! Another challenge -  Project Quilting -5 This one was called "Print Publications" page 28 My magazine stash consists of my moms collection of Quilt magazines. I didn't realize how hard it would be to come up with something from a Quilt magazine for a quilt but it really was....too many ideas in fact! My page 28 was from Quilter's Newsletter 2000.    The article is called "Heart and Soul" and it is a challenge in itself for people to come up with wearable art with the theme Heart and Soul. Well ???  In quilting, I feel my Heart and Soul goes back to the beginnings. I learned from my Mom and she believed in quilting, first, to be utilitarian. She used every scrap and item of clothing that was good enough to cut up into a quilt to create warmth and comfort for her family. Later she bought fabrics and created quilts she felt were to keep and used for special occasions.  I started my project thinking I would use scraps. Somehow I wanted to inco
