P.Q. 15.5 - Wearables

Image
This week the theme was Wearables. oooooo I had plans to remake a jacket. I liked the style of an old coat and when the outside was worn out I took the quilted lining out of it ..a few months ago. Sigh since that project was already started I could not do it for this weeks theme.  Instead I remembered that I had a Noodlehead bag pattern and I NEEDED a new bag!  This pattern is the Redwood tote, crossbody bag by Noodlehead.  I had some clearance HobbyLobby fabrics that all coordinated and zippers on had so went for it.  This bag has a zip and regular pocket outside and I made 3 drop in pockets inside with a big spacious inside and it has a zip top to close all.  Also adjustable strap for crossbody. It is snowing here today so didn't get great pictures but made as bright as I could.  At the last minute.... I decided to add the handle straps that the pattern calls for. I made them but didn't think I would like them. When I realized the bag is fairly deep I figured when I use the c

Fun with Flannel and more

I recently dug in my closet and found a box of 5" flannel squares I had cut out a few years ago. I made a simple tie quilt with them and thought it was time to use up the rest of the box. (did not succeed but every bit helps) Most of these were from old flannel shirts of my husbands.  I found a soft layer of fleecy blanket left over from a previous denim quilt. I had an old blanket that had two soft layers perfect for the inside of a simple flannel quilt like this. I was however short about 6" so I frankensteined some small pieces of batting onto the edge. I had no idea if it would work but I tied this and washed it and everything is fine! Simple ties in each square held it together just right.  Another recycle/upcycle project completed.  The trouble with digging in a craft closet, well any closet really is you never know what you will find. I came across this old pair of pants my husband had. It had ginormous side pockets on the leg perfect to make over into a bag. So I made

Let the Sun shine- P.Q. 13.2

Let the Sun Shine - P.Q. 13.2  challenge theme = silhouette 16.5" x 16. 5" applique my original design My challenge piece for this weeks Project Quilting theme from  Persimon Dreams blog . The theme is silhouette this week. I knew I would keep this project small if I wanted to do applique. I decided on the fused applique and then stitched it all down with invisible thread. The invisible thread turned out to work really well but it was so hard to see when working on it.  Linking up with Persimon dreams so go check out all the entries  HERE I also wanted to do a pattern or something from my library. I remembered I had one of  Sotak Handmade  little bag patterns. I dug in my stash for some light canvas fabrics and voila... This little bag went together easy and is so cute! Perfect for a little grab and go project! I plan to make more of these for sure and I have tons of fabric..haha I love big prints even in small bags.  Also linking with NTT @  My quilt infatuation and Wendy @
