Scrap Adventure

Image
Yesterday my friend Jen and I got together to soak up some street art. I happened to have a few quilts I needed to post about so it was perfect.  Jen found this great wall and so I made her be my quilt holder.  This one is a scrappy coin improv quilt.  42"X 49" organic wavy line quilting You would think a lot of scraps were used but...not so much.  There she is (Jen) in this cool alley she found.  Another scrappy finish. This one a UFO from a year couple years ago. 50"x 59" scrap made fabric then set in the circle (so fun) cross square straight line quilting Another cool mural wall with a giant frog.  I should name it Peek-a-boo just for Jen! Again some scraps but not a lot. One thing Jen wanted to do was an activity with paint chips. We headed out to a couple places and found some fun colors.....um, quilt colors of course.  We were to somehow make a poem though so using the names of the paint chips here goes..... "Starting today, as the sun goes down the lovel

Hands 2 Help finished

Here is my 2nd annual finish for Hands 2 Help hosted this year by Mari @  The Academic Quilter This is the Scrappy 4 squares quilt I came up with. It is one of 2 quilts I am sending to my choice of charity For more info on joining in or just to see how this works you can check out the link above to The Academic Quilter.  More about my process on making the scrappy 4 squares below.  Here is the block I played with: I showed some playing around with it in a previous post. I started with a color block in the center. In this case mine were 6". I then sewed random strips of fabric together. I tried to make sure they were wide enough to cut approximately 2 -2.5" strips out of each slab of fabric strips.  I used EQ to play a layout.  In real life this was pretty scrappy overload. I think it would have been fine but I wanted it to be a tiny bit bigger. So that is why I added the color strips in the center. I think it is okay and it made the finished quilt 42" x 42".  You ca

Sandhill Sling and apple adventure

Image
I set off to take a fun pic of this  Sandhill Sling bag (pattern by noodlehead) Last weekend my husband decided he wanted to run 18.5 miles near his home town and I needed to spot him. So while waiting for him I climbed a ditch and snapped my bag with the pretty goldenrod.  I almost lost my bag and or damaged some limbs climbing that ditch. My shot turned out okay but not great and I had to jump up on a steep incline to get it back..ha It survived and so did I. :) I stopped at the grocery store to admire the pumpkins. Still not a great pic.  Then I talked my friend and fellow quilter/crafter Jen to go pick apples yesterday.  It was sooooo beautiful there! Of course we found apples but I also brought my sling bag and snapped some quickies! back with added phone pocket and sunglass loop I used the pattern for the main part of the bag but I added an extra pocket in the inside that is small for keys. This adventure was a success, fun and nice to get out of the city.  before we left I snapp

One of my nieces got married recently. It was supposed to be in 2020 and the dates got changed a few times but finally in 2021 it happened but not on date planned.  I finally got to see her since attempting to help her with her wedding dress alterations last year.  I wanted to make something to commemorate the event so I made a wedding ring wall hanging. I love this pattern and to prove it, this is my third one I made using the Liz Harvantine block pattern.  HERE I luvvvv this block.  My quilty friend, Jen from  jenniferunderthejunipertree  have a small show together!! Cheese I know! We just spent two hours hanging our show and I should have known there would be photos...oh well ha We paired our quilts together to mark some of the journey our friendship through quilts has taken us.  We started with our Super Nova friendship quilt block exchange 7 years ago.  This was us after we won the challenge and our picture was included in an article in an Amy Butler ezine.  We have since entered
