P. Q. 12.3 - Getting Beachy

Image
I....love....this....scrappy quilt! As soon as project quilting 12.2 was over I set out to start to tackle some scraps. Bags and bags and bags of scraps. You know, you finish a project and some scraps go in a bag, or you go out to a sew day (well in the old days) and you take limited stuff with you and then you come home so tired you don't put away and you end up with...bags! I probably emptied and stripped 12 or 13 smallish bags. Some of course had to stay in bags as that project may not have been finished.  Still I started sewing strips together after cutting and making size piles.  I was making some pretty good progress...then  Project Quilting 12.3 Virtual Vacation  came out on Sunday. You have to start a project after the theme is given out. So when I went to see the challenge I came across Sarah's post for  String Therapy tutorials  @ Confessions of a Quilt Addict. This tutorial she got from Christina HERE  from the blog A few scraps. Her tutoria...

I am number four

Image
Another quilt for my 'stash bash' week of quilt making.  This quilt was actually started back after the new year when I bought myself the Classic Curve Ruler by  Colorgirl Quilts This is the 4th quilt I finished in about a week from my stash. I posted about the others  here at Triple Stash bash I had started the pink arc blocks but that pink fabric was what I want to call a little 'squiggie'. It was fine until you tried the curve and all the arc is curve. ha So I put it away and decided today that finished is better than perfect. hmm.....wonder where i have heard that before (angela walters) I am trying every angle to get my beautiful peony in the picture because it looks so cool with the quilt colors.  Another one going to Quilts for Kids Lincoln Ne chapter.  Scrappy, squiggie, stash bashing, and done!  It's all good.  Linking up with  Crazy mom Quilts   and Let's Bee social

Triple Stash Bash

After finishing the community quilts last week I suddenly have the ability to work on some of my own projects.  First up trying to use up some of the fabrics I have out of my stash.  The tulip quilts are from a recently viewed Jenny Doan video. The tulip block uses some 5" charm packs and I happened to have one that is not exactly my style. So...."little house on the prairie" charms went into those. The rest is just scraps and bits that were big enough to fill in.  Since my style is a bit more modern I wanted to see if I could successfully mix those tiny calico prints with some little more contemporary fabrics.  What do you think? Tulip one Tulip two Now this one is a fun stack and whack type quilt. Tutorial can be found over at  Cluck Cluck Sew . This really is a super fun quilt to make with whatever scraps you might have around. These fabrics I scrounged up were each 9" square to start. I found 2 sort of contrasti...

Doing my thing, MIA and WIP

Image
Helloooo Hellooooo Helloooo.....is anyone still there?  It has been so long. I have been mia but working on various projects. Some not worthy of pics like my husbands work truck seat cover, though made from upcycled jeans, not photo worthy!  I have been working on various quilt blocks for some group projects in some of my guilds.  HST for some diamond blocks that will be made into an opportunity quilt for one of my guilds.  The hst's were super fun to make.  I also worked on some  heart blocks for PULSE in Orlando. Both Modern guilds I am in were making some.  The left over hst's that fell off the heart went into the diamond block above. I could not help but play with the tiny hst's that fell off too.....a mini diamond!!!! love it so much.  I took a pic of a stack of various sized squares I cut from a big back of scraps donated to me of flannel.  I took a pic because the stacks were high (can't see that from this angle no...

Daisy Panel for a Little Girl

Image
"Daisy" Little Girl Panel quilt approx. 38 x 45 Straight line quilted This panel was in my stash for .....years! My local chapter of Lincoln Quilts for Kids decided for a little fun challenge this month to use up a panel you had. I found this and could not even cut it up it was so cute.  Decided to just frame it out with some flower and lady bug fabric.  Stash fabric for the back too. I should go back and see just how many quilts I have made this year from my stash only!! Finish frenzy

Finally grabbed something off my UFO pile and got it done today.  Woot! This one was some miscellaneous fabric I cut out in a tumbler cut to make for a Quilts for Kids quilt. The layout of this quilt is to use a panel fabric or a big design fabric in the big open space and then add the tumblers. This is kind of crazy bright and bold but I am sure someone will love it.  I had to take the picture out of the wind so you really can't see how bright this is but trust me! Did a simple mum flower freemotionquilting on it. The bonus is I used up some of the fabric I have in my stash and that is always a good thing.  I am linking up with Amanda Jean @ Crazy Mom Quilts Day 2 of 31 days of blog writing! HERE

WIP Wed - finish

Image
I finished this little "Streak of Sunshine" quilt for our local chapter of Lincoln Quilts for Kids  charity that gives quilts to kids in local hospitals.  I usually do bright but I had these soft cute peace sign prints in pink and green so went for it. Not great photos but I had to snap these before I gave it away. Hopefully it is on its way to help comfort a sick child.  Linking up to WIP Wed with Lee @Freshly Pieced and Let's Bee social with Lorna @ SewFreshQuilts
