WIP catch up and fun!

 First up, a totally fun block I was dying to try out.  I love love love this. I have been cleaning out (more purging going on) some of my magazines that I have inherited lately. My guild is having a library book sale and magazine drive to raise money for new books.  I have been cleaning out their library and my stacks of magazines. I was marking things I wanted to try. Found this block and no matter that my design wall is 3 WIP pieces deep....I had to try this one.  FUN! Not sure what I am going to do with it yet and I am using some stash fabrics again for my PURGE Challenge so winner winner chicken dinner! :)

 

Next, isn't it obvious that I worked so fast to catch up on my leader and ender quilt project that my photo is blurry? That is my story and I am sticking to it plus the fact that I had to stand on a rolling chair to get out of the overhead light since it was taken around 6 a.m.   ha
This is my shoebox project of trying to use up all my tiny binding end scraps. Also a Purge project.

Oooo that block is totally fun! It looks like you are making good progress on your scraps. My tiny scraps box has gone from just a few tiny scraps to almost overflowing with lots of other scraps. It's never ending I tell you!

Your block on Freshly Pieced drew me in. Love the colors and the block. Has a Southwest feel to me. I am going to try something similar. Thanks.

Project Quilting Season 5 - #1

  So excited that Kim over at  Persimon Dreams is hosting Project Quilting again this year. It was so fun last year and I accomplished a lot.  This year I had so many ideas for this first Challenge. I wanted to do something more arty but when it came down to it I really need to make lap or baby size quilts for some of the charities I contribute to. Mountain High, Valley Low - The improv triangle QAL

"Mountain High, Valley Low"  48" x 38" improv from scraps line quilting in diamond pattern The improv triangle QAL with Nicholas Ball on IG was so much fun. It was just the most glorious distraction for me. I was able to sit down and make a few blocks at a time and didn't have to worry about measurements and sizes. It was just what I needed during my waiting game with my health issues.  The back piece was something I hand dyed a while back. I think it worked pretty great for this back with a few leftover blocks. I had several versions going and of course didn't think it was going to end up so big but it was just so fun to work on.  Luckily I had just the right aurifil thread. I ended up using most of the lighter ones which were a mix of 50 and 40 weight.  It took a long time to figure out what I wanted to quilt across all those colors. WIP - End of Summer

The weather lately means it is the end of summer. I still think my new quilt block quilt is pretty sizzling hot!  I love this block and how it came together. So far I added the corner stones and surrounding half stones. I really don't think I want a border on this but will use the orange or yellow for binding maybe. Still deciding. No idea how I am going to quilt around those jagged blocks yet either. Any ideas?  I have the back pieced and should try to get to it yet this week. Around the Block Party!

"Around the Block" party finish this week. 40 "x 40" approx.  My last week was so productive that I only have a small finish so far this week.  My lqg got together one afternoon to make improv house blocks. It was so much fun that I made a whole block party of them.  I was trying out an idea for a color challenge using a paint chip that has 3 colors. This one had an amber orange color, a chocolate brown and an aqua. I sort of mixed in some gold too but it was fun trying out a color scheme like this and I think it would be fun guild project.  I love how they turned out and and it has started some talk about doing some outreach work for Habitat for Humanity homes.
