Purge progress = Some success

Image
First up on my "Purge" progress is I made up some kits (4 complete kits and one partial that I will just sew up myself) for people to make when they visit the "Quilts for Kids" booth at the county fair next week. There will be a table set up with information about this charity.  If sewers are really interested in doing some work for this charity, Quilts for Kids provides patterns and fabric (already cut) and the backing and binding to make up this quilt. They give it to you in good faith to go home and add your own batting, sew it up and return it washed and ready to go to a sick child at our local hospitals.    Recently this charity donated some of their quilts to two towns nearby that were hit by tornados this year.  Which brings me to my next "purge" item: Scrap Happy 3 which is going to my guilds quilt drive.  Omaha Modern Quilt Guild has linked up with  Quilts of Compassion and  Accuquilt to deliver quilts to needy families that wer

Come on get Happy Finish!

"Come on Get Happy"  Triangle Along - HERE I debated over the name of this little quilt. I felt like it was needing a name like Lily pad or Sunlight on the Pond. After my trials of working on this quilt a few weeks ago and I titled my post "Come on Get Happy", it sort of stuck in my head like the song.  You remember it right??? Partridge Family probably dates me a bit but it makes me smile to sing the song so I think it will make someone happy to get this quilt with that name too! Linking up with the and Crazy mom Quilts Finish it up Friday  HERE Update on this quilt. It has been given to the disaster quilt drive for Pilger and Beaver Crossing tornado relief!

WIP cuttings

Everyone is doing the Triangle! It's raining triangles over at The Sassy Quilter HERE . I dug into that stash of fabric and just started cutting bits of each and came up with 190 triangles pretty quickly. I am going to do some layout work on these to see what I need to cut more of. I think this will be a fun playtime project. I hope to play off some of the built in geometrics. I am going to link up with  WIP Wed HERE and Let's Bee Social HERE and The Triangle QAL with Paula HERE

ALYoFinish it up Friday!

"Weathered Wood" 60 x 75 Friday and the end of the month...all is good! I am posting my finish for the month, the "Barn Door" from the QAL over at Sarah Quilts . I am so happy with my finish. I am even more excited that it was all from my stash.  It was cold enough outside that the tape kept freezing and letting go so I had to just lay it down for pics.  I used the other hour glass block on the back and then used more stash fabrics to piece it all together. I kept with the Barn door theme and tried to quilt it up with a giant "Z" and I think the placement of some of the fabrics lend themselves to the idea of slats of wood.  It just goes to show that making yourself use what you have sometimes can be surprising. :)  I really love this one and I think it is my largest quilt yet on my home machine.  I am linking this up with  HERE my original goal post is  HERE Also linking up with Crazy mom Quilts for Finish it

ALYoF Feb goal

Image
Time to decide what I will complete this month. I am currently working on a quilt called the BarnDoor in a QAL hosted by Sarah at SarahQuilts.   I am using only fabrics I have had in my stash (for a long long time) and I came up with this. I love it! I have to make the two borders yet and I will have to piece the back because this is way bigger than I expected. Not sure what the quilty plan will be but I will make this my goal for the Feb. A Lovely Year of Finishes over at Fiber of All Sorts and Sew Bittersweet Designs linky party Also linking up with Sarah at Sarah Quilts for the Barndoor QAL
