WIP turned into a Finish!

It has been a strange week. I got really motivated to get going on things in some challenges I have been in. I knew the Memorial weekend was coming up but that I would have time after to have a nice month of finishes at the end. Wrong! I totally forgot about the Persimon Dreams "My Favorite Block Quilt Along" which is due May 25th. 

 Photobucket I made 12 of the 20 blocks. Two of them I made twice so I figured why not go for a finish. One of my blocks is not exactly what it was supposed to be ...it was a paper pieced fiasco but the others turned out pretty well. I have 13 blocks on the front and one of my favs on the back. 
Close up of my spiral quilting. I now know there is a wrong way to spiral. Let's hope I remember that for next time. :)

I am happy for the finish! I think it turned out pretty cute.

It is super quick and easy to sew curves.  The color palette was at hand in all teal and greens to form the fish scales or mermaid scales.  48" x 48"  QCRuler simple diagonal quilting  I love the mix of blue, teal, and greens.  First challenge under my belt. Around the Block Party!

"Around the Block" party finish this week. 40 "x 40" approx.  My last week was so productive that I only have a small finish so far this week.  My lqg got together one afternoon to make improv house blocks. It was so much fun that I made a whole block party of them.  I was trying out an idea for a color challenge using a paint chip that has 3 colors. This one had an amber orange color, a chocolate brown and an aqua. I sort of mixed in some gold too but it was fun trying out a color scheme like this and I think it would be fun guild project.  I love how they turned out and and it has started some talk about doing some outreach work for Habitat for Humanity homes. WIP Wed- Friendship star

Friendship Star March BOM block progress *note..it was so windy I had to find an alcove and tape the flimsy down!   Here is my Friendship Star quilt top that I have been working on for the Classic Block challenge at SewCanShe blog HERE The idea is to make the monthly block and post it to the group on FB. WIP - End of Summer

The weather lately means it is the end of summer. I still think my new quilt block quilt is pretty sizzling hot!  I love this block and how it came together. So far I added the corner stones and surrounding half stones. I really don't think I want a border on this but will use the orange or yellow for binding maybe. Still deciding. No idea how I am going to quilt around those jagged blocks yet either. Any ideas?  I have the back pieced and should try to get to it yet this week.
