WIP post finally!

Exhibit by Eye Candy Quilts

I have been away for some time but I have been sewing.  I jumped into doing this adorable block swap at LQS Crafthouse.  The pattern is super fun to do and the fabric bundles to choose from were too irresistible!  So here are a couple of the blocks from one bundle. (I have another to make up yet)

I started the month helping at the county fair. That is a fun but tiring endeavor. Hot and muggy most of the fair week.   Placed a blue on my Hillside houses and it won a cash award and certificate, and I placed a  blue on my Off-Kilter Sunrise Sunset quilt.

And....My friend Jennifer, entered our SuperNova Friendship swap quilt and won the choice of the local Modern Quilt Group.  I made the ribbon which is a mini of the guilds logo.

While at the fair, a couple charity quilting groups came in to spend their days quilting. I agreed to help quilt on my home machine several of the quilt sandwiches they had put together. I started on Wed and by Friday was on my 7th one. :)

After the fair, I was knee deep in working on this design challenge I set up for another Modern guild I am in. The members were given graph paper and measurements and were told to design a "modern" Quilts for Kids" design. If they wanted to they could sew them up themselves but many submitted just designs.  The way Quilts for kids works is you sign out a quilt kit from the charity. They give you the fabric already cut into blocks etc and they give you the backing and binding and a pattern to make. You take the kit home and add your own batting and sew it and quilt it up. Then return it and do some more. I thought it would be fun to have a 'modern' design out there that could be cut and made into the kits for other 'modern' sewers.  Thus the challenge.
I have sewn up 6 of the designs and am in the process of quilting up the last two. I want to have the finalists see who they are in the next couple of weeks.
Must....keep....quilting!

My poor sewing machine doesn't know what is happening. It is all good and for good causes.  Hope to share some of those quilts soon.

So that is me for the whole month of Aug. so far. Very productive but not so hot on blogging. Slow and steady........
