Easy Delectable Mountain x 3

I finally finished this UFO recently. Several years ago already, I got together with my friend and fellow quilter Jen and we did a batch of indigo and other dyes. I had picked up a thrift old sheet. This sheet was super tightly woven and soft. I tore it in pieces and did some dye folds then didn't know what to do with the different ones. I decided as a background for this easy Delectable Mountain block 3 prong version it would be great. I played around with the traditional 4 prong but liked this bolder 3 version better. The sheet has a border of flowers in blue and green so I decided to just use it in this quilt and it is my favorite part!




Today my friend and I went down  to the sunken gardens and to the rose garden and took some pics. 




I did some big stitch hand quilting in white for this piece. The sheet was a little tight for the bigger thread I used but I found some finger grippers that helped to latch on to needle to pull it through.

The gardens were soooo pretty today!

Thanks for the tutorial link, Kris. Your indigo mountains are gorgeous!! I've always wanted to make a Delectable Mountain quilt. Now might be just the time for it!

That's You!! RB Creative Rockstar challenge

"That's You"   RB Creative Rock star Fabric Challenge 32"x 32"  pieced and raw edge appliqued Freemotion text quilting It kind of glares but I thought it would be fun to take a photo of this quilt in the mirror.  It sums up the creative spirit that is in all of us if we just look for it. I love the sort of reflective quality the triangles in the glass area formed when putting all those prints together.  The text quilting was super fun and it is all words and phrases that are positive affirmations. I used "That's You and you should know it" text from the theme song "Love is all Around" from the tv show Mary Tyler Moore. The song has a great message and I have enjoyed the person that MTM was over the years. 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet

I am so excited to be taking part in the 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet organized by Victoriana Quilt Designs! Welcome Welcome Welcome ~~~~~~~~~ My name is Kris and I have been quilting for quite a few years. I started pretty young, learning from my mom.  When she passed away I was not sure I wanted to continue to quilt and then......I did.  I made a portrait quilt of her and you can read about it  HERE Over the past few years since, I have jumped into trying and finding my way. Quietly working with some surprising outcomes!

In late October my husband and sister and I took a road trip to Austin Tx. to attend the wedding of my niece.  It was a beautiful wedding and the weather was great. Outside our hotel was this river walk and it was really fun to walk around a bit. For quite a while now I have been working on an improv piece that I started in 2016 I believe, in a class taught by a fellow guild member Kris Khan.  I loved the colors I had chosen and we were doing improv strip piecing.  I had a few nice strips and then decided it needed to change direction a bit. Once I did that I was not sure where to go so back in a bag with all the fabric it went until a couple sew days this year with my lqg. I had so many solids set aside for this piece and I could be using them in other things but I didn't want to break up the fabrics in case I would never find them again or horror...use them up elsewhere!!!
