PQ Season 6 #1 - Mighty Scrappy

 Time for Season 6 of Project Quilting with Kim over at Persimon Dreams!
I saw the first challenge go up Sunday and I was not sure I could do it fitting with my goals to finish some things laying around here. I thought about it until Wed or so and decided I could do this challenge " Trees" with scraps and that would be a win win!!!  So here is my " Mighty Scrappy".

If you pop over to Kim's site her first photo of a tree was my inspiration.

I tried to add some shading but the scraps are pretty bright. If I do it again I think I would try some applique over the dark side.

Bright and happy and a great scrap buster. I was just like you, commitments and other projects, but I couldn't pass a PQ challenge..lol Your quilt is perfect for the challenge.

What fun! I love how the trunk isn't just the black and whites but has the surprising pops of color too.

Stack, Strip or QAYG your way to quick charity quilts

------------------------------------------------------------------------ Recently I was asked to demo at our local guilds sew day, how to make some quilts quickly for charity. I have been making kids quilts mostly over the years at a reasonable pace, a few here and a few there. Then I got evolved in my church sewing group several years ago. That group makes bed rolls for homeless clients by using all kinds of textiles like drapery, discarded bedding sheets and blankets, canvas, fleece etc. But we also had boxes and boxes of donated cotton fabrics. Old fashioned calicos from the 80's and some kids prints. In order to work in our area freely something at to be done to empty some of the boxes. I started by cutting squares and sewing the cottons with denim squares (we also have still, boxes and boxes of donated denim jeans). Simply sewn and then layered with flannel and backed and tied. I am a quilter though and so I have made many quilts in various patterns so that I could quilt them...

Finish it up Friday and S'more Love Giveaway

  Today I have a quilt top done from my "Goodnight Irene" QAL over at Terry's Treasures HERE .  This was a pretty fast and fun put together. Few issues along the way but now going to piece a back and get this baby quilted. Today...or tomorrow...or soon!!!!   I decided to go 5 x 7 rows and then add the border. I think it will be a pretty good size. I am going to use more fat quarters for the back I think. The mix of prints and colors worked pretty well overall. Indoor pic..sorry! We have had nothing but high winds the last couple of days.  Lovely looking scorched ironing board in the corner and all for your viewing pleasure.:) I will be linking up with  Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday Now I am going to let you know that yesterday was my 100th post ! whoop whoopie!!!  AND.... SuperNova Friendship swap - Finish ALYoF

I can't help it ...this quilt makes me smile!  My swap partner Jenn  Jennifer under the Juniper Tree  (her post on her version is up so go check it out) and I finished our quilts. We made them big and bright and scrappy and they are finished. Did I say that already??? Both of us finished! Okay, enough.  The swap was the brainchild of Stephanie from  Late Night Quilter and Sandra from One Million Stitches . The challenge swap ends Feb 14 and Lee Heinrich herself from Freshly PIeced and the designer of the SuperNova  will be the judge.
