PQ 12. 6 Ab Intra challenge

So Project Quilting 12.6 challenge is Ab Intra -Latin for 'from within'.  Once again I wanted to combine scraps for #nationalquiltingmonth #sewthescrapoutofmarch all month long. I thought of a couple things I could do but came back to starting with my favorite color combo black and white...and use prints I had in my scrap pile. The center sort of represents me and then building bits around is kind of like building on experiences. Using scraps was perfect for that because you never know what you will run into.  I got out some cardboard and did some measurements to see what I could come up with. My diamond fits on a strip of about 5.25 so I was able to cut quite a few out of strips left over from bits of FQ's etc.  The background pieces I fine tuned after I started doing the blocks.  I grabbed a stack of scrap strips and just started sewing. Once on I trimmed them down to about an 1". Some of my scraps were wonky but for this did didn't matter since I was trimming...

My turn on the New Blogger Blog Hop

It is my turn this week on the  New Blogger Blog Hop   sponsored by Beth at Plum and June.  Since joining this Blog Hop I have learned so much and am still in the process of making everything better. I have added an About me page HERE  (quilty pics) and a couple bits about why I started my blog. That's You!! RB Creative Rockstar challenge

"That's You"   RB Creative Rock star Fabric Challenge 32"x 32"  pieced and raw edge appliqued Freemotion text quilting It kind of glares but I thought it would be fun to take a photo of this quilt in the mirror.  It sums up the creative spirit that is in all of us if we just look for it. I love the sort of reflective quality the triangles in the glass area formed when putting all those prints together.  The text quilting was super fun and it is all words and phrases that are positive affirmations. I used "That's You and you should know it" text from the theme song "Love is all Around" from the tv show Mary Tyler Moore. The song has a great message and I have enjoyed the person that MTM was over the years. With her passing recently this was sort of inspired by her.  I used some of all the pieces sent out by the MQG  for Riley Blake for this challenge and then picked up a couple solids to use. 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet

I am so excited to be taking part in the 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet organized by Victoriana Quilt Designs! Welcome Welcome Welcome ~~~~~~~~~ My name is Kris and I have been quilting for quite a few years. I started pretty young, learning from my mom.  When she passed away I was not sure I wanted to continue to quilt and then......I did.  I made a portrait quilt of her and you can read about it  HERE Over the past few years since, I have jumped into trying and finding my way. One of favorite trys was this scrap quilt called Triumphal Arches.  It was made of random scraps fitted with arch shapes. I used all sort of colors and then light to dark background scraps. It was so much fun to make.
