WIP - swirl

 Not quite sure what I am doing with this improv swirl piece.  I was just so excited that I could improv it around and around. I made it to a size I thought was big enough and then wanted to sort of swirl out  of it. It reminds me of a fabric corsage. :)
I think this is the better direction but I have to set it aside and stew on a it a bit. Any comments or ideas are welcome...finish as is ?  For now I am just pleased it lays almost flat!!

2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet

I am so excited to be taking part in the 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet organized by Victoriana Quilt Designs! Welcome Welcome Welcome ~~~~~~~~~ My name is Kris and I have been quilting for quite a few years. I started pretty young, learning from my mom.  When she passed away I was not sure I wanted to continue to quilt and then......I did.  I made a portrait quilt of her and you can read about it  HERE Over the past few years since, I have jumped into trying and finding my way. One of favorite trys was this scrap quilt called Triumphal Arches.  It was made of random scraps fitted with arch shapes. I used all sort of colors and then light to dark background scraps. in Green Pastures

A while ago I started a mini scrap quilt of some of my favorite (all time)pieces of black and white fabrics. I wanted to use an ombre fabric to go from lightest yellow to dark green along with the lightest black and whites down to darker. I did this with a recent challenge piece for an art exhibition that is up now. (more on that in another post) When I started laying the scrap squares out I knew I needed a bit of extra pooch to the yellow/greens. I cut small squares of batting so in those squares there is extra thick batting. With the quilting in each square it makes the solids pop up a bit.   I was trying to take a photo with the sunlight not cooperating but I think you get the idea. It's subtle. I like the idea of extra poof in areas.  I am just happy I finally got it out and finished the facing on it so that I could take some quick pics.  Again the sunlight was not with me but it is sort of fitting anyway.  This one I called "in green pastures"  24"x 24...

Scrappy Corner bits and a Pieced Heart

First up, my scrappy corner bits quilt is done. I love how the different color solid square background adds interest to all the scrappy rainbow bits.  Up close of my happy ...um design element! can you tell what I did?  My pics today were either too sunny or too dark. Oh well, this quilt makes me happy.  All the colored triangle bits are left over (throw-away) binding cut offs.  40 x 46 inches approx.  diagonal straight line quilting through each block ...and one of my stash backings I have had for a while. Colors in it are perfect! So fun! Next up is a quilt I made for a graduating h.s. great niece. I have no idea what she will think. This is the "Piece and Love" quilt by The Cloth Parcel 70" x 81" I ordered the kit for this a while ago from Craftsy..when they 'were' Craftsy. I think the colors are fun and modern. I am hoping that will appeal to my g.Niece. Also she is planning to go into some kind of healthcare so I think she might like this.  The heart p...
