Spring adventures and Pine Lullaby fabrics
Spring time suddenly seemed to creep up on me. I found out that my niece was going to be having a baby this summer but a baby shower in May. I decided this would be a perfect quilt to make using the group of AGF pine lullaby fabrics I already had. I have not been out to the stores shopping so I wanted to use what I had and open this nice FQ bundle. It came with a panel of bears hugging and I knew I wanted to use it somehow. My only question was could I make a quilt that was gender neutral? I hope I succeeded!
On the front I used the pine trees which had pinks and alpine greens added some mint and peach. Then I heard my niece painted the baby room a sand color so I added some grunge that had taupe and mint and beige and peach. I tried to cover all bases.
The pattern is a free download from AGF and I believe it is called Wilderness.
It is a pretty easy pattern if you are using the number a fabrics and color changes they are but if you are making it up as you go, using fabrics you have in places you think will look good then not as easy..haha I think it turned out pretty cute. I used all the extra blocks I could on the back.
I was down to the wire for finishing and mailing if I wanted it to get to the her before the baby shower Saturday. I took these few quick shots and popped it in the mail and it was there in time. So happy she got it and loves it. Now I can't wait for June to welcome a new babe into the family.
My husband and I have been driving out to a piece of farm ground near where he grew up. A few weekends we have gone for a day to try and clear a part of the pasture of some of the overgrowth of felled and cedar trees. Lots of old barbed wire fences and rocks and weeds. We work for half a day and fish in the pond for fun. This week when we were there we finally see a bit of a dent.
While out walking up one hill my husband came across this all by itself.
We think it may have been near the original house that used to be near.
before
The old windmill is falling apart but we didn't know how much was still there until we cut out all those trees and fencing.
after
We found most of the top with the blades were there yet. It would be kind of cool to refurbish but probably not in the plans. After all that we needed a break and spent a little time catching and releasing. This was quite fun for a change of pace!
I feel like spring is rushing past. Better get out and enjoy it!
