Sew Sunshine

You know the old adage...the more you do the more there is to do? Well I have been getting lots done but the things I want to make and do keep growing.  I guess that is a good thing. I sure would hate it if I ran out of UFO's and random piles of fabric. ha...as if! My WIP this week is for  Le Challenge  and this month the theme is "Wings". I have some new techniques I want to try out so I thought this month it might come together. ......I said "might"?? This is pretty crazy and wild fabric but I am hoping the trapunto I am going to try will calm it down. I think no matter what it is a good chance to try something new.  You will have to wait and see how it goes. The deadline for the challenge is the 15th of the month. Why don't you go over and check out the blog and give it a try yourself.  I did finish my Skill Builder BOM Block ...well one of them from last month. I still have to quilt but believe me that will be the easy part.  Also finish

  Work in Progess again. Good thing this keeps me motivated to keep things going. I love that Lee over at  Freshly Pieced  has this link up on Wednesdays! Here is what I am working on.  More Craftsy BOM from 2012......This quilt is making use of 6 of the blocks.  These blocks have a little more brown in them than the previous ones I used up. I think orange and brown with touches of pink will make it look great.  Here is the first one using 9 blocks.  5 blocks to go............stay tuned!

Today I am working on a little table runner project. I picked up a curve ruler from the last time I went to my quilting guild meeting. I have been practically drooling over it since.  A little scared and anxious I might not be able to use it correctly.  Check out the Quick Curve Ruler @  Sew Kind of Wonderful . I made a small table topper and working on two sort of improv mug rugs to match. I think this turned out pretty well so far. Must finish binding and mug rugs and maybe this will be a great raffle item at guild?? will think about that.  Linking up with Lee at  Freshly Pieced  for WIP Wednesday

Linking up with Lee at   Freshly Pieced With a guest host today, Natalie from https://greenleafgoods.wordpress.com/   Okay today I am still trying to catch up from the weekend. :) I am working on my Modern Block of the Month 2 hosted by  Sew Mama Sew . These are 24 1/2" blocks so I am thinking quick and easy...and BIG. I like! Here is what I am playing with: Wow they are BIG. I made 6 because I figured that size would make quite a few charity quilts quickly. I then decided for quilting purposes maybe only 4 blocks would be the best for me and All....That...Negative....Space!!!! aughhhhhhhhhh (picture the kid from Home Alone) here is the option Alyssa has given:1 But there is also:2 and 3 and of course:4 I am playing around with using the two remaining of the six I made and mixing them with some navy blue grunge background and a few similar prints like in the tarragon (green) blocks. How would that be in style 3 with two green and two blue???

Another Finish....I was not sure if I was going to do it this month. I wanted to do something with the 20 blocks I made over at the  Craftsy  BOM 2012. I picked two somewhat coordinating color themes with and accent in another color and hoped for the best. Well, they are pretty busy. I decided I didn't want them all in one quilt. So here is one charity quilt I made with 9 of the blocks so far.  The print for the back was donated by a gal at one of my quilt guilds and there is plenty more for me to do something with the other 11 blocks.  I will save that ....for another month. 

  Today is WIP over at  Freshly Pieced  and I have been working on a few things.  More progress on last weeks green half-hexi quilt top. I put borders of a sort on but now it looks more traditional so not sure if I like it.  Then onto this weeks  Project Quilting  Challenge. This is the 6th and last challenge. The theme is "Hooray for Spring". I have something in the works but it is only midweek and I might change my mind. My sister in law sent me an article about a man who makes these huge one block wonder quilts. I never thought I wanted to do one but I had some fabric and thought I might try and see what it looked like all kaleidoscopey. Fun that is what it is.   Linking up with Lee over at  Freshly pieced  for WIP Wednesday.  My progress is slow but it is fun and it is green. Perfect for this time of year.  Last night I did a little more on my half-hexi quilt. I put the strips I had done together and then decided to add another two rows. I still think I need to go bigger but then it is only a matter of time and I will have to turn it because it will be wider than long. hmmmm? not sure what I should do on this. Turning out pretty cool though. :)

I joined in the Linky this week with Lee at  Freshly Pieced   to keep the progress going on some small projects I have. This week I decided to try my luck with a hexi template my mom gave me and see what I could come up with. The verdict is still out but I am working with greens and black/gray and that I love! Stay tuned on that one.  Here is a Make it and Wear it Finish for the month! I cut this top out back in the fall and then set it aside when my mom passed and I hurt my back.  Now it is finished and I am really excited but...gained some weight and hope to lose it before it is nice enough out for me to wear it. :) It is Simplicity pattern 1884. Went together pretty easy and love the silky featherish fabric! Hope I can wear it soon.
