WIP and ...a finish to wear!

I joined in the Linky this week with Lee at Freshly Pieced to keep the progress going on some small projects I have. This week I decided to try my luck with a hexi template my mom gave me and see what I could come up with. The verdict is still out but I am working with greens and black/gray and that I love!

Here is a Make it and Wear it Finish for the month! I cut this top out back in the fall and then set it aside when my mom passed and I hurt my back.  Now it is finished and I am really excited but...gained some weight and hope to lose it before it is nice enough out for me to wear it. :)

It is Simplicity pattern 1884. Went together pretty easy and love the silky featherish fabric! Hope I can wear it soon.

First Challenge for Project Quilting - Mythical Creatures I love my Quick Curve Ruler and one of their patterns is called Dragon Glass. I love making this clamshell block. It is super quick and easy to sew curves.  The color palette was at hand in all teal and greens to form the fish scales or mermaid scales.  48" x 48"  QCRuler simple diagonal quilting  I love the mix of blue, teal, and greens.  First challenge under my belt. P.Q. 16.3 3 Common blocks - Googlie Fun

Project Quilting 16.3 is all about Common Blocks. At first I was not sure what I was going to do. I wanted to stick to my idea of making P.Q. pieces for charity and so with limited time this week I was thinking ...no way! Then I remembered this little panel quilt. It actually was a yard so double what you see here. I decided to cut it narrow and then add some common blocks to fill it out.  I pulled out some colors that I had close by (with out digging in my stash) and made some blocks to add.  Friendship star was first. Easy block but every time I make one I mess it up. ha I did play a bit with the fabric placement.  Simple 9 patch.  Played with the fabrics here too. Lastly the simple 4 patch border.  And the crazy thing is it is finished on Wed. I think it is true the more you have to do in a week the more you get done. I don't want to push that thought though. P. Q. 16.2 is Ombre =Guacamole

Project Quilting 16.2 is Ombre I used this simple tumbler template to create this ombre fade.  Who knew I had so many greens in my stash...and I did not use them all either. blush* The backing was a piece I had in my stash which let me to think about quacamole for the title.  Simple quilting diagonals and picked one green for the binding.  It measures about 40" x 48".  Linking up to P.Q. 16.2 over at Persimon Dreams  Here if you want to see my first P.Q. 1 Mythical creature quilt go  HERE

WIP - Elegant Curves

I was faced with a challenge last week that I had no spare time for. Even though I would not get it done for the deadline of the challenge I wanted to complete this table runner anyway. I will be showing a demo on the Quick Curve ruler next week and wanted one simple piece from the book  One Wonderful Curve  by sewkindofwonderful.   I changed up the layout and block number to accommodate my fabric and color choices to go with.  Will I always love grunge fabric? I think so.....  One of my goals this year for myself was to try more dense quilting that is not matchstick.  I had fun with this but I chose to backstitch instead of bury my threads and I should have not done that.  I have a knot button on my machine but still have to bury the ends so I am curious to what most of you do?
