A Lovely Year of Finishes - May Yeah!

Image
Yes ...I made it! May Finish sponsored by  Fiber of All sorts and Bittersweet Designs .   I had a UFO from 2012 that I committed to work on this month, with the long holiday weekend it was more difficult to fit it all in but...Here it is.  Has bits of Nebraska Husker fabric in it along with their red and white theme.   I made my own trip around the world with the Lil' Twister quilt block. I didn't have the ruler but it still worked out. I ended up doing a straight line in both directions with red thread since the design is so busy.

I was thinking of what I wanted to do this month vs. what I think I can get done. hmmmm? Last month I managed to accomplish a lot so this month I might as well commit myself to something I have put off.  For Christmas last year I wanted to make a little Husker doll blanket for my great niece Sophia.  My husband had an old doll bed from when he was little and we thought we could clean it up a bit and paint it and make it like new.  So.... I had some Husker fabric and I wanted to make a "Little Twister" quilt. I knew the fallout from the blocks would make a cute "Trip around the world" quilt for my doll blanket.  The holes above I cut out my Twister blocks.   This is my quilt top so far.  I promptly folded it up and put it on a shelf so now I have to finish it!!! Thanks to  A Lovely year of finishes   we will see what I can come up with. It is pretty small...maybe 34" square. Any ideas are welcome??? Here is the finished doll blanket and bed.

It is that time again.   A lovely year of Finishes   over at Fiber of all sorts and Bittersweet Designs. I seriously was not sure if I was going to get to my Finish Challenge for the month. I have been working on those half hexis for a while now and was not sure how I wanted to finish it, if I wanted to make it bigger or what I was doing ...period.  The end of the month was approaching and I was ticking off the list of things I wanted to do this month yet.  The list is long so I decided that it would be better to just DO IT and get it done and have a finish to show for it. I am so glad I did. Here is my green half hexi quilt: Ta Da! Next up is a paper piece project that I am hoping to make into a pillow.  I am not sure I know what I am doing because there are so many pieces but I am willing to give it a go.

A lovely year of finishes goal - April

Time again to link up with  Fiber of all Sorts and Bittersweet Designs  "A year of lovely Finishes" project and set my goal(s). I really want to finish my greenish hexi project so I think that will be it.  I have some boarders on it now and I just have to decide if that is big enough or if I should put more hexis on it. hmmm?? I would like to finish this. I have already gotten out the two quick boy charity quilt tops I put together last month and sandwiched both and quilted both. Finished binding one last night and made the binding for the other. A friend of mine is going to a class on monday to learn how to bind and her mother needs something to practice on so she is taking my quilt and binding. I think it will be great for her and another finish for me! :)  VOTE if you can this week 4/5/13 Please! Quilting Gallery news: I entered my Hooray for Spring entry from Project Quilting Season 4 #6 into the contest over at  Quilting Gallery  in the Spring catego

A Lovely Year of Finishes - March

Another Finish....I was not sure if I was going to do it this month. I wanted to do something with the 20 blocks I made over at the  Craftsy  BOM 2012. I picked two somewhat coordinating color themes with and accent in another color and hoped for the best. Well, they are pretty busy. I decided I didn't want them all in one quilt. So here is one charity quilt I made with 9 of the blocks so far.  The print for the back was donated by a gal at one of my quilt guilds and there is plenty more for me to do something with the other 11 blocks.  I will save that ....for another month.
