A lovely year of finishes goal - April

A Lovely Year of FinishesTime again to link up with Fiber of all Sorts and Bittersweet Designs "A year of lovely Finishes" project and set my goal(s).

 I really want to finish my greenish hexi project so I think that will be it. 
I have some boarders on it now and I just have to decide if that is big enough or if I should put more hexis on it. hmmm?? I would like to finish this.


I have already gotten out the two quick boy charity quilt tops I put together last month and sandwiched both and quilted both. Finished binding one last night and made the binding for the other. A friend of mine is going to a class on monday to learn how to bind and her mother needs something to practice on so she is taking my quilt and binding. I think it will be great for her and another finish for me! :)

Quilting Gallery news: I entered my Hooray for Spring entry from Project Quilting Season 4 #6 into the contest over at Quilting Gallery in the Spring category. If you have a moment you could go over and vote for me!!! It is called "You are a Seed". It is made up of a Cori Dantini panel (love love love this) and one block wonder kaleidoscope blocks for flowers. Trellis quilted, free-form quilting and a bit of echo quilting. I fused appliqued on the panel and hand appliqued some of the flower blocks over the top. I think it says Spring don't you?
 I have been working on another option for my Modern BOM 2 blocks that I blogged about the other day. I really like the navy and the tarragon colors together. What do you think?

in Green Pastures

A while ago I started a mini scrap quilt of some of my favorite (all time)pieces of black and white fabrics. I wanted to use an ombre fabric to go from lightest yellow to dark green along with the lightest black and whites down to darker. I did this with a recent challenge piece for an art exhibition that is up now. (more on that in another post) When I started laying the scrap squares out I knew I needed a bit of extra pooch to the yellow/greens. I cut small squares of batting so in those squares there is extra thick batting. With the quilting in each square it makes the solids pop up a bit.   I was trying to take a photo with the sunlight not cooperating but I think you get the idea. It's subtle. I like the idea of extra poof in areas.  I am just happy I finally got it out and finished the facing on it so that I could take some quick pics.  Again the sunlight was not with me but it is sort of fitting anyway.  This one I called "in green pastures"  24"x 24...

Project Quilting Season and Patone Challenge

  Project Quilting challenge = done! Here is my "Sweet Treats" inspired quilt for this round of Project Quilting hosted by Kim over at Persimon Dreams HERE My sweet interpretation comes from a couple of places. First, the Olympics starting this week. Love this! I love all the quilty goodness all over the place at this years Sochi Olympics. Such fun colors too! So watching the pre-Olympic news I caught a lot of their logos and one that kept coming up is the use of 'equilateral' triangles. I have wanted to try them again.  Second the location and all the beautiful scenery at the Olympics is just breathtaking. I am loving some of the beginning events too, especially the snow events like slope skiing. I then thought the triangles in shades of purple looked a lot like 'rock candy'. Finished it My Way

  Calling this one "My Way" it is the Rebel pattern from Libs Elliot I love the bright colors but played with the neutrals in this one.  approx 73 x 73 straight line quilting with walking foot Leftovers on the back  plus some extra fabric.
