June June June and a goal

It's June and I am afraid that it is going to fly by.  You know that song "June is bustin' out all over" from Carousel? Well that is what it feels like around here. The garden is growing. The vegetable patch was looking pretty good but the high winds and rain flattened many of my plants last night. The little bit of hail didn't help either. The spring cleaning should be well under way...mine stalled out yesterday when I tried to get the hard water ring out of the toilet ( I did get it done but not much else on the cleaning front).  However, progress was made on my current WIP on the DYO sampler HERE @ SewMamaSew designed by Sarah from Sarah Quilts blog.
My second section is completed.  I used another Craftsy BOM (the one in the bottom left) and added in bits of the scraps from several quilts. I love using up the scraps that I kept (for this insane reason I guess) of the bits off of the backings and left over block parts.  The giant Bear Paw is a block I made with the help of my mom back in high school or college. Some of the seams on it were over 1/2" wide. The fabric down the middle is not even cotton I don't think. It won't press flat even with spray starch. :)

2 more sections to go and that is going to my AYoLF for June. I just want to get the 2 sections done and the top sewn together. I would love to scrap up the backing too but I will not hold my breath.

This scrap mess should motivate me to get going. I can hardly cut because there is such a mess! Organized of course.....what? can't you tell? ha

Another project I have going on that has just started is the Super Nova Friendship  Block Swap.
Stephanie (latenightquilter) and Sandra (onemillionstitches) have come up with the swap, pairing quilters together to make the SuperNova quilt together.  Check out the details HERE
Super Nova is a pattern by  Lee (freshlypieced) HERE
In the swap we could link up with someone we knew or someone close or they will hook you up with someone.  I took a chance and asked a fellow blogger  Jen (Jenniferunderthejunipertree) to join me to make this quilt. Super Bonus: she lives really close to my neck of the woods. :)

We met up at a local shop and hashed out some of the details. So cool to meet a fellow blogger in person!!!
We chose to do rainbow colored blocks. My colors were cool colors (and maybe yellow if I find enough) so I dug through some of my stash.  It is going to be a mix of scraps and FQ's newly purchased from various designers. I can't wait.

First swap date is June 15th so there is plenty of time if you might want to join in. I think you can join or follow along with Lee's great instructions.

Just sharing...my clematis that survived over the winter. This one has a faint pink outline in it and the one that died was the opposite. Sad but this one is doing pretty well.

That scrappy quilt is coming together nicely. It is great you get to use the old block you made with your mom.
