Image
I am so excited to be taking part in the 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet organized by Victoriana Quilt Designs! Welcome Welcome Welcome ~~~~~~~~~ My name is Kris and I have been quilting for quite a few years. I started pretty young, learning from my mom.  When she passed away I was not sure I wanted to continue to quilt and then......I did.  I made a portrait quilt of her and you can read about it  HERE Over the past few years since, I have jumped into trying and finding my way. One of favorite trys was this scrap quilt called Triumphal Arches.  It was made of random scraps fitted with arch shapes. I used all sort of colors and then light to dark background scraps. It was so much fun to make. You can read about it  HERE Please take some times to visit the others on the Quilters Meet and Greet by clicking on the Logo up top  and click on the logo below to enter the giveaway.  Thanks for stopping by! Good luck to yo...

Flowering Lonestar test and Giveaway!

Image
I am so excited to share with you the pattern I tested, "Flowering Lonestar" a new pattern by Melissa at SewBitterSweet Designs . I was so excited to be able to test this pattern for her.  This pattern goes together really quickly and is one of two patterns Melissa is launching today!!! Yes there are Y seams and Melissa helps you through. If you need more help in this area I found that the youtube video by Edyta Sitar HERE  will help you with some visuals. I knew I wanted to make a more masculine version of the lonestar. I used some FQ's from my stash and some lovely Basic Gray Grunge (my favorite). I think the colors worked well and for one last touch I made the background blocks on the side another color. I think it looks perfect for a baby boy! I did the quilting with Aurifil 50# weight color 5011 which blended with the prints nicely and highlighted the lighter side.  Spiral quilting with my walking foot to finish it off.  You can...

Few issues along the way but now going to piece a back and get this baby quilted. Today...or tomorrow...or soon!!!!   I decided to go 5 x 7 rows and then add the border. I think it will be a pretty good size. I am going to use more fat quarters for the back I think. The mix of prints and colors worked pretty well overall. Indoor pic..sorry! We have had nothing but high winds the last couple of days.  Lovely looking scorched ironing board in the corner and all for your viewing pleasure.:) I will be linking up with  Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday Now I am going to let you know that yesterday was my 100th post ! whoop whoopie!!!  AND.... My turn on the New Blogger Blog Hop

Image
It is my turn this week on the  New Blogger Blog Hop   sponsored by Beth at Plum and June.  Since joining this Blog Hop I have learned so much and am still in the process of making everything better. I have added an About me page HERE  (quilty pics) and a couple bits about why I started my blog. More quilty pics Quilt Gallery .  In a nutshell, it is a tribute to my Mom and all the quilty-ness and crafty-ness I grew up with. My Mother was very creative in so many ways.  I am one of 10 children and so she 'had' to be creative and know how to make things from not much.  1. resin on photo keychain 2. reading a yard of books 3.magnet note holder 4. building a shed 5. rag rug 6,7,8. earring making 9,10. bracelet making 11. quilted letters tote 12. doll making 13. hand puppets 14. shower table of food 15. quilted zipper bags 16. frame purse Crafty things I love: Above are a few things I have dabbled with in the last couple of year...
