Not idle... just slow

Finally getting around to posting my challenge piece. I struggled so much coming up with something I liked using these fabrics. I did get something done as you see, and I submitted it but alas it was not accepted.  I do think that I was a tiny bit disappointed but then again I have been really distracted from sewing because of a recent illness with my husband.

So, I am just now pulling up my knee socks and moving forward.
I call this "Spumoni Sunshine".  It is pretty small at 30" w x 28" l with spiral quilting.

 I used the fat eights that were sent and a bit more of the yellow and white and then gray and black of the MM  solids.  If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...right?  So maybe next time. :)

Wow, that's beautiful! You did great things with those colors (which I also had a hard time with.) I'm really interested to see which challenge quilts were accepted.
I hope your husband feels better soon!

What challenge was this for? I love it and think the balance is just right. I also like the way 2 of the quarters have borders to help them fit in with the rest. Very pretty!

I remember looking at that little stack of fabric with you and we were both thinking "ewww!" haha! It's so neat to see what you came up with, you did a great job of putting it all together. I really like the bits of black and the circle design.

Project Quilting Season 5 - #1

  So excited that Kim over at  Persimon Dreams is hosting Project Quilting again this year. It was so fun last year and I accomplished a lot.  This year I had so many ideas for this first Challenge. I wanted to do something more arty but when it came down to it I really need to make lap or baby size quilts for some of the charities I contribute to. WIP - End of Summer

The weather lately means it is the end of summer. I still think my new quilt block quilt is pretty sizzling hot!  I love this block and how it came together. So far I added the corner stones and surrounding half stones. I really don't think I want a border on this but will use the orange or yellow for binding maybe. Still deciding. No idea how I am going to quilt around those jagged blocks yet either. Any ideas?  I have the back pieced and should try to get to it yet this week. Around the Block Party!

"Around the Block" party finish this week. 40 "x 40" approx.  My last week was so productive that I only have a small finish so far this week.  My lqg got together one afternoon to make improv house blocks. It was so much fun that I made a whole block party of them.  I was trying out an idea for a color challenge using a paint chip that has 3 colors. This one had an amber orange color, a chocolate brown and an aqua. I sort of mixed in some gold too but it was fun trying out a color scheme like this and I think it would be fun guild project.  I love how they turned out and and it has started some talk about doing some outreach work for Habitat for Humanity homes. Finish it up Friday and S'more Love Giveaway

  Today I have a quilt top done from my "Goodnight Irene" QAL over at Terry's Treasures HERE .  This was a pretty fast and fun put together. Few issues along the way but now going to piece a back and get this baby quilted. Today...or tomorrow...or soon!!!!   I decided to go 5 x 7 rows and then add the border. I think it will be a pretty good size. I am going to use more fat quarters for the back I think. The mix of prints and colors worked pretty well overall. Indoor pic..sorry! We have had nothing but high winds the last couple of days.  Lovely looking scorched ironing board in the corner and all for your viewing pleasure.:) I will be linking up with  Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday Now I am going to let you know that yesterday was my 100th post ! whoop whoopie!!!  AND....
