You can do it!! We have until February 14th to post photos on Flickr. I did get my binding sewn on and my quilt is all washed up! I just LOVE IT!! I'm hoping to take some photos tomorrow.
I can't help it ...this quilt makes me smile! My swap partner Jenn Jennifer under the Juniper Tree (her post on her version is up so go check it out) and I finished our quilts. We made them big and bright and scrappy and they are finished. Did I say that already??? Both of us finished! Okay, enough. The swap was the brainchild of Stephanie from Late Night Quilter and Sandra from One Million Stitches . The challenge swap ends Feb 14 and Lee Heinrich herself from Freshly PIeced and the designer of the SuperNova will be the judge. Now more pics: There is a little up close view of the straight line grid quilting using aurifil in 2600 again! Lastly I leave you with this picture (dig the sun going down sprinkling light on the blocks!!!) of my SuperNova with a factory in the back ground and little note from the NASA website as to "What is a SuperNova"? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Recently I was asked to demo at our local guilds sew day, how to make some quilts quickly for charity. I have been making kids quilts mostly over the years at a reasonable pace, a few here and a few there. Then I got evolved in my church sewing group several years ago. That group makes bed rolls for homeless clients by using all kinds of textiles like drapery, discarded bedding sheets and blankets, canvas, fleece etc. But we also had boxes and boxes of donated cotton fabrics. Old fashioned calicos from the 80's and some kids prints. In order to work in our area freely something at to be done to empty some of the boxes. I started by cutting squares and sewing the cottons with denim squares (we also have still, boxes and boxes of donated denim jeans). Simply sewn and then layered with flannel and backed and tied. I am a quilter though and so I have made many quilts in various patterns so that I could quilt them...
I am so excited to be taking part in the 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet organized by Victoriana Quilt Designs! Welcome Welcome Welcome ~~~~~~~~~ My name is Kris and I have been quilting for quite a few years. I started pretty young, learning from my mom. When she passed away I was not sure I wanted to continue to quilt and then......I did. I made a portrait quilt of her and you can read about it HERE Over the past few years since, I have jumped into trying and finding my way. One of favorite trys was this scrap quilt called Triumphal Arches. It was made of random scraps fitted with arch shapes. I used all sort of colors and then light to dark background scraps. It was so much fun to make. You can read about it HERE Please take some times to visit the others on the Quilters Meet and Greet by clicking on the Logo up top and click on the logo below to enter the giveaway. Thanks for stopping by! Good luck to yo...
I am a Maker 24" x 24" pattern by Liz Harvantine HERE matchstick quilting I have loved this pattern since it came out and this is my third time in making the small wall hanging size. It is really fun to make. This piece was inspired by a piece of text fabric that a friend who happens to be co-chair of this quilt show, gave me a few weeks ago. It has text and sheet music on it. Then I found some fabric that has sewing pattern terms and quilt blocks on it. Some fabric with writing, photography, architecture and diagrams and put them all together to represent the makers of many beautiful things. This wall hanging will be donated to one of my local quilt guilds for their quilt show auction coming up Oct 6-8 to raise money for the guild. I might have to buy it back I love it so much! If you are in Lincoln Ne during that time stop by to see the show or bid on a favorite piece to own. linking up with Crazy mom qu...
