Week to catch up


Between PQ season 13 challenges I try to catch up on a few things. This week I wanted to finish a small wall hanging for our guilds project of providing Habitat for Humanity wall hangings. 
This is a moda free pattern called Be my neighbor so I thought it was fitting. I have so so so much black and white fabric so tried to make a cute little homey wall hanging with it but it was pretty washed out..until I added some scrappy hst to the borders. 

Then I decided to make a few block lotto blocks for another guild because....well because they are just so darn cute! 

Look ...here comes the chickens!

What??? so cute! They are like 15" big so they are realllly cute! ha

That is it for me this week. It was hs girls basketball championships this week so had some company in town.  Dare I say a tad normal seemingly?

The scrappy HST border does really perk up the BW center. Congrats on the finish!

Project Quilting Season 5 - #1

  So excited that Kim over at  Persimon Dreams is hosting Project Quilting again this year. It was so fun last year and I accomplished a lot.  This year I had so many ideas for this first Challenge. I wanted to do something more arty but when it came down to it I really need to make lap or baby size quilts for some of the charities I contribute to. I am sure I will do something more artsy before the challenge is over but for today I am going with a version of a scrap quilt.  The Challenge is "String Along with Me" I used the same strip quilt as you go as I did in a quilt I made last Oct following Maureen Cracknell and her Herringbone QAYG quilt tutorial.  This was is called Scrappy II  it is 43 x 45. All scrap strings, scrap batting pieces and scrap binding. Remember when

I joined the  New Blogger Blog Hop 2013 ?  (Check it out, I think my answers are still the same as what I wrote about then) Wow that seems so long ago.  Guess what? I still love blogging about what I am doing creatively. This year it has been kind of a bumpy road getting back into quilting. I never stopped but had many delays last year because my husband and I decided to remodel our kitchen and dining area ourselves.  This year I have been working on catching up with many outreach and charity projects.  I planned a project for our local National Quilting Day Celebration at the International Quilt Study Center and Museum.  Two quilts were made and donated to the local Child Advocacy Center.  Read more here about  Love of every day things .  I taught a class to help guild members be more confident with using the Quick Curve Ruler made by  Sew Kind of Wonderful This quilt made by members of the classes and  the quilts you see  HERE  and  HERE  and  HERE  and yes.........

  I am a Maker 24" x 24" pattern by Liz Harvantine   HERE matchstick quilting I have loved this pattern since it came out and this is my third time in making the small wall hanging size.   It is really fun to make.  This piece was inspired by a piece of text fabric that a friend who happens to be co-chair of this quilt show, gave me a few weeks ago. It has text and sheet music on it. Then I found some fabric that has sewing pattern terms and quilt blocks on it. Some fabric with writing, photography, architecture and diagrams and put them all together to represent the makers of many beautiful things. This wall hanging will be donated to one of my local quilt guilds for their quilt show auction coming up Oct 6-8 to raise money for the guild.   I might have to buy it back I love it so much! 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet

I am so excited to be taking part in the 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet organized by Victoriana Quilt Designs! Welcome Welcome Welcome ~~~~~~~~~ My name is Kris and I have been quilting for quite a few years. I started pretty young, learning from my mom.  When she passed away I was not sure I wanted to continue to quilt and then......I did.  I made a portrait quilt of her and you can read about it  HERE Over the past few years since, I have jumped into trying and finding my way. One of favorite trys was this scrap quilt called Triumphal Arches.  It was made of random scraps fitted with arch shapes. I used all sort of colors and then light to dark background scraps.
