A Lovely Year of Finishes -Jan Edition Finish

Here it is Friday and the end of the month. I am sad it is going so fast but I think I have some pretty good momentum going and I "hope" that takes me into Feb.

My January Finish for A Lovely Year of Finishes over at Bittersweet Designs and Fiber of all sorts HERE is my Giant Starburst from the QAL over at Canoe Ridge Creations. Original post about finish goal HERE

It has been really windy so I have had to have my husband help but it is late in the day when he gets home so some of the pics are in the shadows. I really need to work on photography.

Yep, jumped on the IKEA fabric for this back. I love it with this.
One of my favorite quilt making experiences ever!
Measures 60x06
straight line quilting with Aurifil
pieced binding
Love the way the colors came together too! I might be using this in an upcoming contest but will have to wait and see.

Other than that I dabbled in some other crafty things. I started out thinking I was going to do the Project Quilting challenge this time which was an Upcycle project. I wanted to use anything but fabric to make some type of quilting thing. I ended up getting totally distracted by origami and could not think of anything else. Sadly no entry for the Project Quilt challenge second round. To find out more about Project Quilting you can visit Persimon Dreams.

My try at a paper quilt. the hexi stars are made out of 8 squares that you fold and connect to make the design. I used old scraps of scrapbook paper that looked like old fashioned fabric. I linked them together with jump rings and used the natural twig to be the frame. The cool thing is the origami is double sided.
I plan to hang in my window but no way I could get a good shot on this day.

One last thing to share today is my love of glittery beads. My girl friend and I got together yesterday and talked about all the things we had in our stash and how we had to get to using them. Here is mine so far.
The turquoise beads with painted shell and the bronzy gray beads with glass painted bead center. Didn't take too long to make and will be fun to have something new.

And linking up with Crazy Mom Quilts for HERE

Very creative work! The starburst is awesome as are your other projects - well done!
LOVE-LOVE-LOVE! This may just turn out to be one of my finishes for the year!
Your color choice was great.
I love it when the back of a quilt is as gorgeous as the front. Well done on both counts!

Like several things about your blog. The header - what a colorful quilt and it looks so good set in front of the blue. That wonderful quilt you made - congrats on the finish and the paper quilt - what a neat idea. Had fun visiting.
