Friday Finish and PQ 6 = #2

Here is my Project Quilting season 6 project #2 entry held by Kim of Persimon dreams. The challenge this week was Sunrise/Sunset.  I used this tutorial from Melissa Correy over Happy Quilting. It is her Off Kilter quilt. I loved it when I saw it so I knew it was a dream quilt for me. This PQ challenge allowed me to do the theme and do a dream quilt. Bonus: all the fabrics including the backing and batting were all in my stash. You only have a week to do the challenge so this was extra easy this week.

I drove over to the park by my sisters house and the sun was so bright I could not see so I went under this tree to shoot. In those few minutes the clouds rolled in and that was the last of my sun. So this version with the yellow to the top is my sunrise side....and if you flip it over

....you see my sunset!  A park walker stopped to help me since the wind came up too. :) Thank you park walking lady!!!!

Sunrise.... Sunset

The back is this fabulous month fabric (Windham fabrics - 8 days a week) with a strip of fade to gray pieces of leftover fabric on the side. I love how that turned out. I used simple organic lines across my bright yellow to gray blocks on the opposite corner.

It's just beautiful! How about naming it Sunrise/Sunset to commemorate the challenge. Not original, but fitting.

This is a gorgeous quilt, and you took perfect pictures! It's isn't often for me, but 'ain't it great' when it works out the way you intended?

Gorgeous quilt! Love the use of color as well as the use of the grays for the sunset edge.

this is stunning! I am in absolute love with this quilt! Great work and big for just a week! Trish Frankland will definitely have name ideas ... just ask in Challenge quilts :)

Wow you are fast! This quilt is just gorgeous and I love the photos you took. Actually, the grey sky makes the colors pop more! I think it's especially great that someone walking at the park helped you, we Nebraskans are pretty awesome that way. :) As far as naming, I'm horrible with that but I like how you showed the sunrise and sunset with the design.

WOW. Love it. I am blown away that you did that in a week- and I love the "flip" from sunrise to sunset.
