UFO busting -Ice Ice Baby


Catching up on posting some quilts. I don't know about anyone else but I am spending more time on computer these days. I sometimes forget that I could be posting some of the things I finish when I finish so that it is not so time consuming but I don't ...so here we are! ha

Ice Ice Baby is a small throw quilt I made by playing around with EQ7 and the Quick Curve Ruler. 
40.5" x 49" 
Super fast curve sewing using the QCR!!

Fun variegated fabric for the cones. 

Simple cross straightline quilting. 

The 3 fabrics from the front are from the same line as the back .....so cute!
I had the blocks done but just needed to put them together and quilt. 
I also found these when looking for mask material. Amazing what is all stashed away. ha

I started out with making faux bias tape ties and even made a short video on how to make them on fb. 
I quickly switched over to tee-shirt ties. We have so many nice tee-shirts that my husband never wears and they work great.

 Not all fun and games though....

My husband was bored I guess and sat down beside me while I was sewing one night. He found a coffee stick with a pipe cleaner circle in the end and was curious as to what it was. Of course he had to wave it around like a wand and kept saying how dusty and fuzzy my machine was on top. I am begging him to go away but he wouldn't. He finally asked about a thread that was coming out the hand wheel?  I thought he was kidding! 
Nope.... we opened her up and this is what we found. I know that is a bobbin thread as it is special for bobbins.  I have no idea how it missed the belts and other components and ended up wrapped around this wheel cam!! Also I have to use the foot feed to wind bobbins so I was sitting right there,  sometime, when this happened?? I have no idea!

 In other news, I tried some applique, fpp and thread drawing for my Bee Botanical blocks.

Stack, Strip or QAYG your way to quick charity quilts

------------------------------------------------------------------------ Recently I was asked to demo at our local guilds sew day, how to make some quilts quickly for charity. I have been making kids quilts mostly over the years at a reasonable pace, a few here and a few there. Then I got evolved in my church sewing group several years ago. That group makes bed rolls for homeless clients by using all kinds of textiles like drapery, discarded bedding sheets and blankets, canvas, fleece etc. But we also had boxes and boxes of donated cotton fabrics. Old fashioned calicos from the 80's and some kids prints. In order to work in our area freely something at to be done to empty some of the boxes. I started by cutting squares and sewing the cottons with denim squares (we also have still, boxes and boxes of donated denim jeans). Simply sewn and then layered with flannel and backed and tied. I am a quilter though and so I have made many quilts in various patterns so that I could quilt them...

Finish it up Friday and S'more Love Giveaway

  Today I have a quilt top done from my "Goodnight Irene" QAL over at Terry's Treasures HERE .  This was a pretty fast and fun put together. Few issues along the way but now going to piece a back and get this baby quilted. Today...or tomorrow...or soon!!!!   I decided to go 5 x 7 rows and then add the border. I think it will be a pretty good size. I am going to use more fat quarters for the back I think. The mix of prints and colors worked pretty well overall. Indoor pic..sorry! We have had nothing but high winds the last couple of days.  Lovely looking scorched ironing board in the corner and all for your viewing pleasure.:) I will be linking up with  Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday Now I am going to let you know that yesterday was my 100th post ! whoop whoopie!!!  AND.... SuperNova Friendship swap - Finish ALYoF

I can't help it ...this quilt makes me smile!  My swap partner Jenn  Jennifer under the Juniper Tree  (her post on her version is up so go check it out) and I finished our quilts. We made them big and bright and scrappy and they are finished. Did I say that already??? Both of us finished! Okay, enough.  The swap was the brainchild of Stephanie from  Late Night Quilter and Sandra from One Million Stitches . The challenge swap ends Feb 14 and Lee Heinrich herself from Freshly PIeced and the designer of the SuperNova  will be the judge.
