WIP Wednesday

WIP Wednesday at Freshly PiecedToday I am working on a little table runner project. I picked up a curve ruler from the last time I went to my quilting guild meeting. I have been practically drooling over it since.  A little scared and anxious I might not be able to use it correctly.  Check out the Quick Curve Ruler @ Sew Kind of Wonderful.
I made a small table topper and working on two sort of improv mug rugs to match. I think this turned out pretty well so far. Must finish binding and mug rugs and maybe this will be a great raffle item at guild?? will think about that.

The table topper turned out great! I have been seeing that ruler, and the quilts, and am so impressed by them! I love the quilting on yours.

SuperNova Friendship swap - Finish ALYoF

I can't help it ...this quilt makes me smile!  My swap partner Jenn  Jennifer under the Juniper Tree  (her post on her version is up so go check it out) and I finished our quilts. We made them big and bright and scrappy and they are finished. Did I say that already??? Both of us finished! Okay, enough.  The swap was the brainchild of Stephanie from  Late Night Quilter and Sandra from One Million Stitches . The challenge swap ends Feb 14 and Lee Heinrich herself from Freshly PIeced and the designer of the SuperNova  will be the judge. 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet

I am so excited to be taking part in the 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet organized by Victoriana Quilt Designs! Welcome Welcome Welcome ~~~~~~~~~ My name is Kris and I have been quilting for quite a few years. I started pretty young, learning from my mom.  When she passed away I was not sure I wanted to continue to quilt and then......I did.  I made a portrait quilt of her and you can read about it  HERE Over the past few years since, I have jumped into trying and finding my way. One of favorite trys was this scrap quilt called Triumphal Arches.  It was made of random scraps fitted with arch shapes. I used all sort of colors and then light to dark background scraps. Blogger's Quilt Festival Time - He Said, She Said

I am so excited. I missed out on entering in the Blogger's Quilt Festival last time and want to make it in this year.  I am entering in my recent finish "He Said, She Said" because I made if for me and I love it so much!!  "He Said, She Said" Love 24"x 24"approx. This has 28 shades of grey newsprint/fabric and 1 piece of green fabric that is variegated.  This is the second time I made up this pattern by Liz Havertine from the LA Modern Quilt Guild. I just love it so much I know I will make it again but maybe bigger? I entered this little one into my local guilds "Shades of Grey" challenge.  Matchstick quilting with 6 shades of thread I had some fun taking photos at this old building that used to have a complete sign for Best Flour on it. So fun to get out and see things in the neighborhood. So thankful many people let me crawl in their bushes to get some photos!  haha You can see my original post  HERE ...

Japandi - a bee quilt

Japandi 57" x 49"  improv crosshatch organic quilting a BeeUtifully Modern Bee quilt my Bee mates: Jen, Phyllis, Liz and Judy  This quilt is the first blocks my beemates and I made together.  I was up for Queen Bee first and I chose a combination of Japans wabi-sabi style mixed with the clean natural lines of Scandinavian design. Throw in asking for making your own stripes and a neutral palette and you get Japandi style! It took me 2 full length audio books to piece the blocks together once they were turned in. I think I figured close to 22 hours. It was a challenge to create balance and use up all the bits.  It is hard to tell from here but some of those little bits are tiny tiny bits, skinny lines and stripes.  With our Bee if you want your piece bigger you have to make quite a few blocks and bits to fill in.
