January Report Card 2013

Thought I would review how my first month of blogging about my creativity went. Looking back to the beginning of the month I know I was on a high from all the Christmas gift making. Confident enough to start a blog and  share my quilty-ness and join a few BOM's, Quilt-a-longs and Challenges. 
Results:
BOM = Skill Builder over at Pile O Fabrics
            Block 1 = Sound wave
            Block 2 = Magnum

Project Quilting =challenge over at Persimon Dreams
            Challenge 1 & 2 out of 6 so far completed
            1= Rear Window - Rain
            2= Rift - Something wicked this way comes

Quilting Gallery =  Show and Tell week
             I entered two pieces
             Sweet Caroline
             Nature's Pirouette which won 2nd place

Charity Quilts =
             UFO - completed
             Rail Fence #1 Charity 2013
             Started a Scrappy Trip Along of total scrap bag fabrics - top done

             Started Relay for Life silent auction quilt and all I have left is to quilt and bind!

Misc =
            UFO - completed wallhanging
            "Sophie in the Garden" started in 2011

Misc = Madrona Road fabric Challenge
            Tales along the road wallhanging

Misc = Quilt top completed for Kaffe Faucett quilt and backing made ready to quilt.


BOM - Favorite Block quilt a long
             Block 1 & 2 completed

12 months of Sewing for myself =  New Flannel P J's.

Overall that is very successful and I am ready for February!!!!

Almost forgot...I read 19 books or 7800 pages for the month!

Project Quilting Season 5 - #1

  So excited that Kim over at  Persimon Dreams is hosting Project Quilting again this year. It was so fun last year and I accomplished a lot.  This year I had so many ideas for this first Challenge. I wanted to do something more arty but when it came down to it I really need to make lap or baby size quilts for some of the charities I contribute to. I am sure I will do something more artsy before the challenge is over but for today I am going with a version of a scrap quilt.  The Challenge is "String Along with Me" I used the same strip quilt as you go as I did in a quilt I made last Oct following Maureen Cracknell and her Herringbone QAYG quilt tutorial.  This was is called Scrappy II  it is 43 x 45. All scrap strings, scrap batting pieces and scrap binding. My turn on the New Blogger Blog Hop

It is my turn this week on the  New Blogger Blog Hop   sponsored by Beth at Plum and June.  Since joining this Blog Hop I have learned so much and am still in the process of making everything better. 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet

I am so excited to be taking part in the 2019 Online Quilters Meet and Greet organized by Victoriana Quilt Designs! Welcome Welcome Welcome ~~~~~~~~~ My name is Kris and I have been quilting for quite a few years. I started pretty young, learning from my mom.  When she passed away I was not sure I wanted to continue to quilt and then......I did.  I made a portrait quilt of her and you can read about it  HERE Over the past few years since, I have jumped into trying and finding my way. One of favorite trys was this scrap quilt called Triumphal Arches.  It was made of random scraps fitted with arch shapes. I used all sort of colors and then light to dark background scraps. P.Q. 15.6 theme Irish chain

I did a simple Irish chain for this weeks challenge theme for Project Quilting. I made this free pattern before and you can read all about that  HERE . I made this in a kid size mainly because I had limited neon fabrics. I have enough strips cut to make bigger but my goal was to make quilts for kids that I could donate to organizations. So in the end getting this one made this week (also I have had some kind of flu for 2 weeks) is a win! Some of these mostly black prints have been in my stash for a long time so really want to keep working on my stash.  Simple criss-cross quilting. 39"x 49" approx.
