It is my turn this week on the  New Blogger Blog Hop   sponsored by Beth at Plum and June.  Since joining this Blog Hop I have learned so much and am still in the process of making everything better. I have added an About me page HERE  (quilty pics) and a couple bits about why I started my blog. Something about working on Group Quilts

  My local quilt guild took on a group project last year. We wanted to show a T.O.M. = technique of the month, to members and then have them try it. Most of the techniques were improv based giving some the opportunity to try them with no fear. We chose a color and size scheme.  We used coral and cream and we were pretty free about the corals including shades of reds and violets. Same with the creams including some whites. Block options were 12.5, 6.5 squares or 12.5 x 6.5. The result of the blocks turned in at each monthly meeting was wonderful.   We were able to make this Medallion style quilt 84". 84", a row by row style quilt 84" x 90", a lap sized throw 48" x 60" and a wall hanging 24" x 24".  Fabric of said colors were donated to piece together the backing and use any leftover blocks that may be left.  This one was quilted by a former member Sonya Nelsen on her longarm. Another?

I am not sure what to call this finish. I have been emptying baggies of projects or ideas of projects that I have kept together. This week I found a bag with 2 animal blocks framed up partially with the animal print fabrics. They were left over from a kids quilt I made years....ago. I decide this would be easy to just frame up some more of the animals in the panel and ...USE...IT....UP! ha So I don't know if this is a UFO or a WIP but it is now something! Between the front and the back I used up all but a strip of zebra and cheetah fabrics. I can put that in the scrap bag for another day.  I had four animals left from the panel and was able to make them into little backpacks. One of my local quilt guild is making backpacks for little ones to use for medical purposes.  The packs are lined and just need the cording yet.  So another bag gone and done. Project Quilting Season 5 - #1

  So excited that Kim over at  Persimon Dreams is hosting Project Quilting again this year. It was so fun last year and I accomplished a lot.  This year I had so many ideas for this first Challenge. I wanted to do something more arty but when it came down to it I really need to make lap or baby size quilts for some of the charities I contribute to. I am sure I will do something more artsy before the challenge is over but for today I am going with a version of a scrap quilt.  The Challenge is "String Along with Me" I used the same strip quilt as you go as I did in a quilt I made last Oct following Maureen Cracknell and her Herringbone QAYG quilt tutorial.  This was is called Scrappy II  it is 43 x 45. All scrap strings, scrap batting pieces and scrap binding. It might not be very creative but my scrap box is looking so much better!  (notice the fun fabric I found for the back...lovely dotty diamonds!) Simple quilting since each st...
